SCADA stands for "Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition". Typically, this term is used for software that monitors and controls industrial and other technical equipment and processes from a central office. It's about:
- industrial processes in mechanical or process production (continuous or batch),
- technical processes in distribution networks (water, gas, electricity, etc.), transport networks (eg traffic signal control, fire protection systems and tunnel ventilation) and communication networks,
- processes in the management of technical equipment of buildings (HVAC, security),
- monitoring electricity consumption in facilities such as industrial plants, shopping centers, conurbations, ocean liners, etc.
